Today, let’s pretend I’m a ‘weather woman’.
It is raaaaiinnning!!! All around meeeeee!!!
I remember myself as a child… wanting to play in the rain, being sent back in because of the rain- quite sad tbh. I loved running in the rain. I eventually learnt to run from rain. I’m sure 90% of those reading this did too.
Today’s issue is not about running from rain. It’s about being right as rain when it rains. That’s a little cheesy. Stay with me here…
Imagine you’re a plant. You could be a Coleus (always thirsty, always wanting the elements beating down on you- sun, rain) or you could be Aloe Vera (super self-sufficient, succulent, needs little care, fine with a single cup of water once a month). The reason you’re not blossoming could be that you are a Coleus and you are running from the rain. You are a beautiful plant who has a great life ahead and would flourish under the storms of life but you are avoiding problems, hiding in the shade, refusing to grow, refusing to get wet. Refusing to let yourself bloom.
I mean… you could also be an Aloe baby but you could make holes in your pot so that when the rain comes through, it’s goes through and it doesn’t drown you.
In case you haven’t figured it out by now, the point of this publication is to tell you to stop running from rain. Stand tall. Face the storm. Weather the wind. Brave the flood. Find ways to adapt!!!
Allah does not tell us to run from the rain. Instead, he teaches us how to deal with it through his prophet (peace be upon him).
Here is a list of some Sunnahs associated with rain.
Saying ‘Allahuma sayyiban nafi’an’ (Oh Allah make it a beneficial rain). Adapt!
Standing in the rain or allowing it to touch a part of your body. Adapt!
It is Sunnah (A practice of the Prophet (pbuh)) to stand in the rain and to expose a portion of your body to it.1
Making du’a when it is raining. 2
Make the most of what you have been given.
I leave you in the care of Allah.

Its narrated by Imaam Muslim in his authentic compilation from the hadith of Anas, He said: It rained upon us as we were with the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him). The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) unveiled his garment (from a part of his body) until the rain fell on him. We said: Messenger of Allah, why did you do this? He said: Because it (the rainfall) has just come from the Exalted Lord.

Sahl ibn Sa’d that is attributed to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): “There are two which will not be rejected: du`a at the time of the call (to prayer) and when it is raining.” (Narrated by Abu Dawud and classed as sahih by al-Albani in Sahih al-Jami’, (3078).
