Today, let's pretend I'm a fangirl. Honestly, it's not pretense. I have a long standing crush on two GOATed (Greatest Of All Time) celebrities.
Hotties
With a hint of rogue-ish qualities and a slice of bravery + bravado.
Both of them also happen to love Allah in such exceptional fashion that it was documented and has been recounted several times as worthy of emulation (What more could I want in a man?)
Ahmad and Umar…
My eternal crushes.
My dream men. The ones I… (I have to stop now in case my REAL-LIFE crush happens to read this).
Ahmad ibn Hanbal waa a man of valour… but not in the way you may be thinking.
He was exceptional but not because he fought in wars or he wrote the best or most inspiring stories or war chants. Ahmad , rahimahullah, was a man of knowledge and he was a man Allah favoured with knowledge and the love of knowledge of Allah that fuelled his desire to protect the truth about the Qur’an by all means he could.
In a time when all other men, scholars and laymen alike, fell into the trap Shaytaan had laid via those who said the Qur’an was created (the Mu’tazilah) and tortured the scholars until they gave up and agreed. There was Imam Ahmad, getting beaten every day for not conforming to ignorance- that's a major W if I've ever seen one.
It's no shock that a young woman is attracted to strong and domineering men. It's also no shock that a Muslim is attracted to strong Muslim men who carried this Deen on their backs at different times in past centuries- Ahmad ibn Hanbal (of the Hanbali school of thought) and Umar ibn Khattab (Leader of the believers, a noble companion, and the second Caliph).
My crush on Umar R.A started when I heard that the prophet, peace be upon him had said, 1 the devils crossed the street or chose another road when they saw Umar coming. This, to me, is the height of sexiness. Fr. What is sexier than a man who can fight in the human world but also can beat up a couple of spiritual bullies too?
Umar was the reason the Muslims were finally able to pray publicly for the very first time. Umar was the most confident Sahabah. When Umar accepted Islam, he went around boasting about it. He went to meet Abu Jahl (the biggest enemy of Islam at the time and the man who tortured and killed the first matyrs in Islam- Sumayyah and co.) and he told Abu Jahl he had accepted Islam and wanted to see what he would do. This was like telling him “Do your worst”. Umar was a boxer. He was not anybody's mate when it came to throwing physical blows. Even the wives of the prophet, peace be upon him, were afraid of him and they always behaved better when he was around.
You are probably wondering…
What does this really mean for your confidence and why should you care about my crush ☺️ ?
I'm tempted to end this here without including the tip. However, here goes… 👍🏾
Whenever someone calls you an ‘extremist’ for being vocal and open about your religion or tries to make you stop an act of obedience to Allah, remember Umar Ibn Khattab…
Remember Imam Ahmad
Remember Sumayyah, R.A.
Nothing anyone says or does to you could be worse than what was said and done to these icons… and they never wavered. They never caved…
Draw strength from them and remember… Allah tests those whom he loves.
He tells us this in the Qur’an.
(29:2) Do people think that they will be let go merely by saying: “We believe,” and that they will not be tested,
(29:3) for We indeed tested those who went before them? Allah will most certainly ascertain those who spoke the truth and those who lied.
Keep your head high and remember, these people are the real #unattainablegoals
What are you doing to reach them?

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "O Ibn Al-Khattab! By Him in Whose Hands my life is! Never does Satan find you going on a way, but he takes another way other than yours."
Narrated Sa`d bin Abi Waqqas:
`Umar bin Al-Khattab asked the permission of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) to see him while some Quraishi women were sitting with him, talking to him and asking him for more expenses, raising their voices above the voice of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ). When `Umar asked for the permission to enter, the women quickly put on their veils. Allah'sf Apostle allowed him to enter and `Umar came in while Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was smiling, `Umar said "O Allah's Apostle! May Allah always keep you smiling." The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "These women who have been here, roused my wonder, for as soon as they heard your voice, they quickly put on their veils. "`Umar said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! You have more right to be feared by them than I." Then `Umar addressed the women saying, "O enemies of yourselves! You fear me more than you do Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) ?" They said, "Yes, for you are harsher and sterner than Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)." Then Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "O Ibn Al-Khattab! By Him in Whose Hands my life is! Never does Satan find you going on a way, but he takes another way other than yours."
