Today, let’s assume I’m a doctor here to prescribe the solution to a viral disease plaguing humankind.
This. Is. Personal.
All my life, I’d never felt envy… until… recently. There’s this person I know AND I've known from way back… They recently got a major blessing in their life and it was quite similar to something I really wanted and I'd been praying for. That’s how I found myself thinking about it for so many hours and for going on nearly 2 days!
Envy is a demon. NGL.
To be honest, I am 💯% cool with being the envied party in my relationships or in interactions with other humans generally. Being on the other side was a strange phenomenon for me, to say the least.
I was losing my marbles. 😁
It is embarassing sha.
But... I had to research a solution to that occurence and also figure out a way to stop the raging beast of Envy from ever rearing its ugly head in my heart again.
That was when I found this hadith.
It simply states that you make du'a for people when you envy them and the envy would leave your heart permanently. There was also a custom du'a to get rid of the feeling.
I will not lie to you here man ...
The envy left o.
I made the du'aa just like 3 or 5 times that evening and by the next day, it had dissipated.
It was an amazing experience. Wallahi. I was so excited that I shared it with a friend even though I couldn't share why I had been studying that. 😂
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to say in his du`a, “Wa’hdi qalbi wa’slul sakhimata sadri (guide my heart and remove ill will from my breast).” The phrase “guide my heart” means to the straight path, and “remove ill will from my breast” means take away all insincerity, rancour and hatred.1
You know how we can try but we can never surpass the real O.Gs that were the Sahabiyyah, right? I mean, some of them were even promised Jannah and they were still worried about maximising their chances for good deeds and seeking forgiveness for their sins like every single second. There was this Sahabah that heard the Prophet, peace be upon him, say that when you make du'a for someone, the angels make the same du'a for you and this man wrote down 300 of his friends (obv. other Sahabiyyah) and started making du'a for them every night.
Honestly, this tip has worked for me more than anything else.
It got me out of so many terrible episodes as I made Du'a for a friend who faced something similar and was able to get out of the problem myself.
Try it once and you'd probably start making Du'a for all 3,000 of your social media friends too. 🤗
Fee Amanillah. ❣️✨
